Nelson is based in Glasgow, Scotland but hails from the capital Edinburgh. Over a number of years he has been involved with various bands across the central belt of Scotland. This has included live gigs, recording and music production work, including several album releases. This has covered various musical styles including rock, funk, folk and jazz with Nelson primarily contributing bass guitar/ lead guitar and writing/arranging. These diverse influences have led to solo recordings made over the last 4 years including collaborations with recent and previous musical partners.
The results can be heard in the samples to the right (click on the individual track names). A special mention for Neil Davidson Smith who contributed guitar and writing/production work to some of these compositions - and has recently resumed after surviving his 'African experience' (see link). The samples currently include a 'showreel demo', some excerpts from songs, and some complete versions. An eclectic mix of rock (with a jazz tinge) and ambient funk is complemented by a pop sensibility for memorable melody lines and production values. These samples will be updated on a monthly basis - so drop by again for new material?
Full recordings will soon be available on CD (release date has been delayed until October 2009), some of which are to be featured in forthcoming short films (watch blog for updates).
